Longtime chapter member and organ crew chief Tom Fizzell passed away late Friday afternoon August 5th after a lengthy battle with PSP

TomFCCTom was a dedicated and valuable member of the theatre organ community serving as crew chief overseeing the restoration and maintenance of the chapter's Phoenix Orpheum Theatre Wurlitzer and the Wurlitzer Organ installed in the First Christian Church Youth Center that is under the care of our chapter.  Tom stepped down from his position as crew chief in April of 2015 after decades of service.

In addition to maintaining chapter instruments, Tom maintained the Organ Stop Pizza organ for over 25 years.  A true pipe organ enthusiast, Tom installed a 3 manual 14 rank theatre pipe organ in his and his wife's, Beverly, residence and together they hosted countless organists, concerts, chapter meetings, and Young Organist Summer Camps from the early '80's on.

Tom was not a man to waste words preferring to let his work speak for him.  Tens of thousands in the Valley have enjoyed the benefits of his behind the scene efforts over the past years and many more will continue to benefit from the legacy he leaves us.  Our deepest condolences to his wife Beverly and his family.

When asked to serve as CARE GIVER for TOM I was instantly filled with pride that such an honor was to be mine. None but myself could possibly know the full feeling such as this affords someone such as me. Gone but never to be forgotten is a man that all to often silently gave his all. Though raised and residing but a few miles apart in CHICAGO we never knew each other until I rejoined the VALLEY OF THE SUN CHAPTER less than two years ago. His family has been so accepting of me that I feel I am now an integral part of the FIZZELL CLAN.

I wish to personally thank all that have expressed their feelings on TOMS passing. Though I do not know many of you I feel through your generosity that we have been lifelong friends.

Please join me in wishing TOM a joyous hereafter..

I'm so sorry for your loss. He was a very talented person and will be missed. I saw him and Bev the last time we were at the Organ Stop Pizza but they were busy with another couple. Our prayers are with the family and the organization.
